Liposuction overtook breast augmentation as the most common cosmetic surgical procedure overall in 2021 with more than 1.9 million procedures reported. However, breast augmentation remained the top choice for women.

Rounding out the top five most popular surgical procedures in 2021 were eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), nose surgery (rhinoplasty) and tummy tuck (abdominoplasty).

Botulinum toxin remains leading non-surgical procedure

Botulinum toxin remained the most popular non-surgical procedure for both men and women of all ages, with more than 7 million botox procedures performed by plastic surgeons worldwide. The other top five non-surgical procedures in 2021 were hyaluronic acid fillers, hair removal, skin tightening and fat reduction.

Breast augmentation, eyelid surgery most popular for women and men, respectively

Breast augmentation continued to be the most common surgical procedure for women in 2021, the ISAPS reported, followed by liposuction and eyelid surgery.
