Surge in sculpting procedures reveals body enhancement trends
New data released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) shows that nearly a quarter million more cosmetic procedures were performed in 2018 than the previous year. According to the ASPS annual plastic surgery statistics report, more than 17.7 million surgical and minimally-invasive cosmetic procedures were performed in the United States in 2018, a number that has risen steadily over the past five years.
Top 5 Cosmetic Surgical & Minimally-Invasive Procedures
Of the more than 1.8 million cosmetic surgical procedures performed in 2018, the top 5 were:
- Breast augmentation (313,735 procedures)
- Liposuction (258,558)
- Nose reshaping (213,780)
- Eyelid surgery (206,529)
- Tummy tuck (130,081)
Among the 15.9 million cosmetic minimally-invasive procedures performed in 2018, the top 5 were:
- Botulinum Toxin Type A (7.44 million procedures)
- Soft Tissue Fillers (2.68 million)
- Chemical Peel (1.38 million)
- Laser hair removal (1.1 million)
- Microdermabrasion (709,413)
The top 5 reconstructive surgery procedures were:
- Tumor Removal (4.4 million procedures)
